Update December 2023: My TEDx talk “Wireless Wake-Up Call” has now been viewed nearly 1.7 million times and has been translated into at least ten languages, including Japanese, Chinese (Traditional), German, French, Italian, Swedish, Czech, Hungarian, Estonian and Arabic. Thank you to everyone who has shared this important message with your communities over the past seven years.
On February 6th, 2016, I had the opportunity to speak at TEDxBerkeley. The title of my talk was “Wireless Wake-Up Call.” I discussed the health effects related to the explosion in wireless technology the past few years, along with solutions that can help everyone. Within the presentation, I also talked about how we can develop technology that is much safer for humanity.
Here is the TEDx talk:
The following are a few pictures and experiences from that day:
Highlights from TEDxBerkeley:
Zellerbach Hall on the UC Berkeley campus is an incredible venue. It seats 2,000 people and this event was sold-out. I was the second speaker of the day and the first couple minutes on stage were a bit nerve-racking. As you will see in my opening questions, there was an uncomfortable moment for everyone (it felt like the entire room needed to pause). It happened when I asked who knew that the fine print in every smart phone owner’s manual says to never put the phone within about 1 inch of the body. This is a truth that is currently taboo to discuss in our society, so few people know about it. However, once we got through this moment, the talk soon became fun and was well-received by many in the audience.
TEDxBerkeley hired artists to put each talk into images. It is such an incredible skill to do this in a short amount of time. Every speaker that day gave an amazing talk (it was so much fun to watch the other talks) and each presenter was given the painting of their talk as a gift that evening.
In my talk, I wanted to convey that people are indeed being harmed by this technology and that there is adequate science to show how and why this is happening. Most importantly though, I provided solutions that every family can utilize today to reduce their exposure and encouraged us all to help society wake-up. Once this happens, our technology industries will create safe products that will move our entire society toward a healthier future.
Note: For non-English speaking people, the presentation has been translated into at least ten languages, including Japanese, Chinese, German, French, Italian, Swedish, Czech, Hungarian, Estonian and Arabic. A full written transcript can be found here if you would like to translate into your language.

I doubt that this Tedx Talk will be online for very long. The telecom industry won’t take to this very well as it exposes the truth which is not good for their profits. They will have this pulled and therefore censure yet another expose.

I wonder if the rude and easily irritable attitude of SO MANY people, may be partially a byproduct of this radiation…?? GREAT TALK!! AWESOME!!

Good point! And, makes sense.
Noel Amaral
I think it has some impact along with the direct social isolation due to internet connections and lack of solid family units.

Hello!! You are right.. the irritable behavior is for sure a by product of this wireless technology.

Hi Jeromy
I saw the short 6 minute version via TBYP a few days ago but the full 15 minutes is best. Very well done! You got a lot of critical information across in a short period of time, and kept it simple, which is what people need. I am so pleased your talk is being shared by so many other prominent websites. So many of you doing such great pioneering work. Critical mass cannot be too far off surely. Thank you so much for your contributions. In my opinion your website is the best in the world on the topic and your reputation is clearly going from strength to strength.
Best Wishes
Sue
Jeromy
Thank you Sue. I really appreciate this.

Having been electrically sensitive for 8 years or so (originally living near a cell tower), I am extremely grateful for your work here. I have probably done 1,000 hours of research on this subject, and yet perhaps for the first time really feel like there is hope for real change due to your excellent talk–thank you.
Jeromy
Thanks Dave.
I see more and more evidence of this issue becoming important to a lot of people. Hopefully it will continue and at some point we are going to have technology that doesn’t harm people.

Thank you Jeremy for a great talk! I gave up my cell phone 6 years ago and wireless in my home 3 years ago (I have cabled internet). I live in Spain by the sea where my exposure is at a minimum (and I use my rad meter regularly to check every so often). I find it a challenge to spend too long in a city and travel to the US and UK is uncomfortable, but do what I can to keep my immune system strong when I do, so I can minimize the effects as much as possible and not restrict what I do. Thank you for this website and for spreading the word, your work is so important and will change lives.

Jeromy, that was an excellent presentation, it was an informative talk which can be understood by everybody. Lets hope your message makes a difference.

The WHO actually RAISED their concern from their previous report saying that it was not a concern. So, although “possible concern” may not sound so bad, knowing that they changed their concern is something to think about.

Something to think about ~ Have you considered they may have raised it because they were pressured to do so by the now richest industry on the planet? The cell phone industry now grosses more than Big Pharma.

Great presentation Jeromy! Well done!

Well done, Jeromy, thank you for sharing your experience and helping to bring this information mainstream! We’re making strides in Massachusetts too, Ashland Public Schools has put in place Best Practices for Mobile Devices. In our legislature, the Massachusetts Joint Committee on Public Health just reported out favorably on Senate Bill 1222: An Act creating a special commission to study the health impacts of electromagnetic fields. Our local library just held a six-part documentary and film series on Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) and Health, and we now have a wi-fi radiation meter on loan to Ashland residents in our library. So, little by little, folks are becoming educated on this and starting to take steps to reduce their wi-fi radiation exposure at home, school, work and elsewhere while the technology sector figures out safer ways to communicate electronically. Thanks again for all you’re doing, Jeromy!

I am eighty eight years old and for some sixteen years in the sixties and seventies my office was located above a tower containing transmission lines from an adjacent Detroit Edison power plant. I don’t know whether such surroundings are by their nature high emitters of harmful radiation, but to this day I seem to have been unharmed. If it was potentially harmful, I seem not to have been affected, all of which points me toward not fearing the word of the electric utility industry in their advising that smart meters and similar emitters are harmless. Nevertheless, I am open to hearing opposing data.
Floyd
88 years on this planet and you haven’t learned the difference between power lines and microwave radiation?
Jeremy Stanners
Hey Allen
In our country we have a system of power distribution called Multiple Earth Neutral. It is evil, because it creates power return currents in the ground as well as in the overhead wires causing widespread 50Hz “earth loop” currents – something that the USA system does not normally have. These constant currents through and under peoples homes certainly do have a negative effect – according to those so affected. BUT what I understand Jeromy to be talking about are MICROWAVE radiations from around 1 GigaHertz upwards. The microwave frequency chosen for our ovens was specifically because that gave maximum agitation of the molecules in our food to cause heating and break the tissues in the food. Very similar frequencies are used for WIFI, and for the modern cell towers and phones. A cell tower may only be 1/10 as strong as a microwave oven, but it runs 24/7, like the wireless smart meters which probably each make a call every 30 minutes, 24/7. Children, with their bodies growing, and those precious cells in their bodies trying to replicate faithfully do not need to be cooked – even slowly.

Dear Jeromy, You did a wonderful job with your talk! I was so impressed with your calm, gentle, strong manner given how easy it would be to be hysterical and freaked out over the subject. I am so happy that through the “Take Back Your Power” film and website I eventually found myself at your website. Your PDF book has been very helpful to me, the Cornet 78S has allowed me to SHOW to family and friends that their houses too are subject to electrosmog.
One big question…do you link to a company making a timer for our WiFi? A brand?
I’m going to get a cage such as you show on your website for my router. But since I understand so little about all this I don’t even know where I’d put a WiFi timer.
Meanwhile, I will send your TedX talk to all my family and friends. A year or so ago my sister told me PG&E was coming to install a SmartMeter on her house and I eventually convinced her to opt out. Yesterday she told me that all the rates are changing and of course they are squeezing folks in whatever way they can think of to convince them to opt in to SmartMeters. Sigh.
Thank you so much for what you are doing and for sounding so hopeful and positive in your TedX talk. YOU ARE INSPIRING!
God bless you.
Mimi
Jeromy
Hi Mimi,
I have put all the things you mention in one easy place here:

Most of these ideas are what the typical family can start with.

Wonderful talk, I just now purchased the cornet meter to test out the effectiveness of the wifi blocking devices I currently use (MRET guards purchased three months ago). Minimizing wifi by using Ethernet cables and power line adapters has increased the speed and decreased pollution (used these for years) However the cell phone and residual wifi for the non Ethernet devices I put MRET cell or universal guards. No smart meter yet but found a way to create an effective blocker with screen and duct tape -blocks over 90%. Glad you are addressing these issues

FABULOUS, Jeromy. Love the gentle but powerful way your speak – conversational but full of important facts. Very clever way to open – asking how many people had read the smart phone insert about keeping it about an inch from the body! Good, doable suggestions for safer use of technology.
Thank for putting it out in a form we can easily hear and forward it.

Thank you Sandy!

Great job Jeromy! That thunderous applause at the end was well deserved.

Do you know you are talking using a wireless microphone?
That 1 inch smartphone spacing becomes up to 20 inches if you have a medical
implant like a cardiac pacemaker, a deep brain stimulator or an insulin pump,
and NIH estimated 8 to 10 percent of the US population in 2000 had some
kind of medical implant. RF interference with medical implants can turn them off,
reprogram them, and cause injury or death.
Look at what the FDA allows microwave ovens to leak, then look at what
smartphones, Bluetooth and WiFi intentionally transmit at nearly the same
frequencies. Also, FCC maximum permissible exposure duration is 6 minutes
in a controlled or 30 minutes in an uncontrolled environment. Who drives their “smart” car for only 30 minutes with only one active device?
You’ve just scratched the surface.
Jeromy
Thanks Gary.
Indeed, I had a wireless mic attached to my belt on my back. If the transmitter was next to my brain, it may have become uncomfortable. The exposure was well worth the opportunity to speak. . .
And, yes, just scratching the surface of this important and complex subject. It’s all one can do in 15 minutes. Hopefully it will open the door to further exploration for people.
Jini
Yes Jeromy – that’s what I thought: WOW! So much to communicate in only 15 minutes. You did a great job and you came across as a calm, rational person – which is also important for an unaware or unsympathetic audience. Well done!!
Richard Conrad
Gary – great idea comparing allowable microwave oven leakage to FCC MPE – I’ll have to look into that. But FCC MPE is not for 6 or 30 minutes, it is for infinite time of exposure. This is a common misunderstanding, partly due to poorly written FCC docs. The 6 or 30 minutes only refers to the averaging time for taking measurements – the longer the time, the more accurate the measurement.

Jeromy, Fantastic job! Your talk was easy to listen to and relate to. And I so appreciated your calm demeanor. I am one of the thousands you mentioned that have talked with you… I sought some help as I was suffering with my new smart meter. I am grateful for your advice, and I do appreciate your time and efforts to help educate the public. I will share this with my friends, health practitioners, etc.

Hi Jeromy,
Thank you for bringing the wireless problem out in the public – every person who becomes educated should convey their concerns to an unsuspecting public – we all need to reach more and more people- however we can.

Find out more about how hazardous this radiation is from a journeyman electrical professional from Canada, curtis bennett here: http://thermoguy.com/
Sage
I understand that cell phones could also be calibrated to use frequencies that are actually beneficial for the health so if this is true then there appears to be no reason at all that one should be required to hold their cell phone so far away from themselves but that there is no actual concern for the health of the recipient.
Jeromy
Sorry Sage, but as long as we use pulse modulated microwave radiation for wireless communication, you will want to keep any wireless device away from your body.
Kathy L
Thank you! Great talk and well presented.

Key facts
Cancers figure among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with approximately 14 million new cases and 8.2 million cancer related deaths in 2012 (1).
The number of new cases is expected to rise by about 70% over the next 2 decades. http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs297/en/

Thank you, Jeromy! This is a pressing and urgent topic. Though you all must be aware that headphone technology amplifies the problem!! Be sure to research what will reverse the direction of the frequency from counter-clockwise to CLOCKWISE = shungite.
All the best,

“Airtube” headsets solve the issue of RF amplification because the copper wiring stops about 1 foot below the head because all that remains is a vacuum plastic airtube for sound.
They don’t solve the entire problem, but greatly reduce one’s exposure.
Here are the things I usually recommend for safer cell phone use:

We had a smart meter placed in the center of our house without knowing it. It was placed there, when we got suncells on our roof. Our eldest son could have died from not sleeping. We did not believe him, when he said he didn’t close an eye. The doctor refused to give him sleeping pills … He could not concentrate in the school – where they also got smartboards instead of blackboards…. Accidentally, we found out that we had a smart meter in our house. I wrapped it in silverpaper – and it helped. After a heavy fight, we were allowed to have a manual meter… only for the sake of a test: I had gotten tinnitus and a tumor in the breast, my husband had headaches and bad sleep – Everything disappeared slowly, slowly, when the smart meter was taken down. When I wrote against Smart meters in the internet, my fairly new computer got black and I lost all data, addresses — and the phone company also lost my own e-mail address and could not remake it strange enough. As I have a business (lost 5000 addresses) it was a heavy loss. Since then I have been careful to talk about smart meters in public. So thank you for doing it!!!
Valerie
Loved hearing your TedxBerkeley talk, Jeromy. Excellent.
Thank you!
Informative, calm, reassuring and positive while you describe a doable, alternative, healthy global future, you are the perfect messenger to lead us out of ignorance and into a non-toxic connected world.
After you became debilitated from EMF exposures, you made the compassionate choice to delve deeply into EMF research, and to share your findings with the world; especially tough when facing an abundance of disbelief.
Your choosing a heroic trail-blazing path of truth and advocacy regarding EMF toxicity in the face of entrenched corporate and government interests is very brave. And most valuable.
Science is on your side; you successfully are opening doors that previously were hidden from view, if not locked down entirely.
Jeremy Stanners
A timely reminder, thanks Jeromy
I sleep with a WiFi router just 10 feet from my head, and there is another on my desk at work! For convenience of course.
15 years ago, I designed and field trialed a Smart Meter that talked back on the power lines to the utility company (harmlessly like wired LAN), but at the time they were not “cost effective” at $40 each. Now a cellular smart meter costs five times as much, and the utilities can’t get enough of them. (shakes head).

Good talk, sincerely delivered, Jeromy. I will share it.

I identify completely as I experienced the same impact with a bank of smart meters associated with my home.

In 1996, Swiss Insurance published a risk report and as of 2013, they no longer insure wireless of any kind for injury
1996 – Swiss Insurance – Electrosmog
2013 – Swiss Insurance – Emerging Risks
These risks are now Exclusion 32
“The Electromagnetic Fields Exclusion (Exclusion 32) is a General Insurance Exclusion and is applied across the market as standard. The purpose of the exclusion is to exclude cover for illnesses caused by continuous long-term non-ionizing radiation exposure.”
“‘The Electromagnetic Fields Exclusion (Exclusion 32) is a General Insurance Exclusion and is applied
across the market as standard.
The purpose of the exclusion is to exclude cover for illnesses caused by continuous long-term non-ionizing radiation exposure.
We will not;
a) make any payment on your behalf for any claim, or
b) incur any costs and expenses, or
c) reimburse you for any loss, damage, legal expenses, fees or costs sustained by you,
d) pay any medical expenses: directly or indirectly
arising out of, resulting from or contributed to by electromagnetic fields,
electromagnetic radiation, electromagnetism, radio waves or noise.”
That likely means that School Boards that have put wireless in schools and Cities and Municipalities that have voted in Smart Meters are not insured for “injury to health”.
Perhaps if people demanded to see proof of insurance from these systems, that might be enough to shake up their blind compliance.
Jeromy
Nohan – Yes, you are correct about the big insurance companies not covering future claims related to microwave radiation.

Thank you for forwarding the talk. I agree fully with you. I too believed this when I started experiencing this – sleep disturbance, joint pain, dryness in the eye, increase in BP, increase in sugar level, etc due to 2 mobile towers within 40 meters from my residence. It is difficult to make people believe this until they have experienced it for themselves.
I am a PhD in Electronics, doing research in this area from 2012 onwards in India…

All those who have been unfortunate enough to have been made ill by wireless microwave radiation thank you, words are not enough. You have unflinchingly stated the dangers and risks, especially to children, and, hopefully, this will not be in vain and lead to a safer future for all living things.

Thank you for a great presentation!
Many years ago I carried an EMF detector with me in many places and countries.
I was appalled at what I found. One place in particular interested me and that was the meter went off scale in any commercial jet aircraft. Since I flew a lot in those days, I did research and began to wear a Clarus Q-link. It seemed to take the edge off of after effects of trans-Pacific flights. I would be interested to hear your views on this technology, especially with regard to WiFi and cell phones. http://www.qlinkproducts.com/Scripts/default.asp
Tomas
Jeromy
Hi Tomas,
My experience with most products like this is that there may be a temporary placebo reaction, but that ultimately the best thing is to reduce and eliminate unnecessary EMF exposures.
I wish there was one device out there (among the hundreds available commercially) that truly protected people. But, after trying many and speaking to many other EMF injured people, I have not found it.
I’d say use these things if you feel they help you. But don’t think that they somehow make it safe to put a cell phone to you head or to have a WiFi enabled computer on your lap.
As for flying – try to use airlines that don’t yet have WiFi on board. There still are many – especially European carriers. Google Flights will tell you which flights don’t have WiFi before you book with the airline:
https://www.google.com/flights/
Jeromy
Michael
If you are flying, then during the entire flight, you are continuously exposed to high levels of solar/cosmic ionizing radiation, which generally is more dangerous than the non-ionizing microwave radiation from a WiFi router, or the aviation RF emissions.
You can measure ionizing radiation with a Geiger counter. I have taken Geiger counters on airplanes, and found that at cruising altitude, the CPM (counts per minute) is about 10-15 times that at ground level.
To protect against this kind of radiation, you need lead shielding. Not practical at all. (And lead itself is highly toxic). Because of this, I avoid flying as much as possible, and prefer to drive, or take a train or bus. But then there is the problem that in public transportation, 99% of the passengers use wireless gadgets, and there are cell towers along all major highways. It is not easy to stay healthy in this world.
(If you take a Geiger counter on a plane, make sure to be discrete, and turn off the sound and lights, you do not want to cause a bomb scare and get arrested.)
Ned Gorman
Jeromy – bless you for this work and your courage in being among the first to step forward with a clarion call for reason and rationality. I will echo the call to as many souls as possible through my social network and personal connections.
Predictably, your TED talk is superb. I commend the manner in which you illustrate the clear perils of EMF/wifi, reinforcing the incontrovertible scientific evidence with simple common sense. The graphic of the wifi “mesh” over the capitol mall is nothing short of chilling. If anything, I expect that graphic does not even represent the worst-case state of things.
I must wonder how many millions – tens of millions – of users remain blissfuly unaware of the manufacturer’s advisories to keep their phones an inch away from their bodies? I wish the FCC mandated that every major cable network anchor be to compelled to state that fact during their prime time hours for at least a week… But, alas, given who owns the media, I don’t expect to see that anytime soon.
“Fine print” in most documents exists to implicitly deceive the employer. Benefits are bold faced; dangers usually require a jeweler’s loupe to discern.
Thank your for bringing this clear and present danger to light.
Warm regards –
Ned

Thank you for your contribution on this topic. I am an occupational therapist and I have been treating people with environmental sensitivity and chronic fatigue syndrome for 10 years and I have been observing that people consulting for insomnia, abnormal debilitating fatigue, brain fog, tinnitus and teeth clenching are getting younger and younger and are more severely handicap by this.
I will keep your talk in my hundreds of references. For the mechanism of DNA damage and ATP production interference you may want to look at the research of Dr Paul Heroux from Mcgill University.
Nice to have another engineer to clarify this planatary challenge.
Kyle Channel
What do you think about 60Ghz frequency used in 802.11ad wireless?
Jeromy
Kyle – the millimeter wave length WiFi will certainly be faster, but it’s biological effects are unknown. We simply don’t know until we study/research/test these technologies and that normally doesn’t happen until after the fact (the effects of 2.4 and 5.0 GHz pulsed microwave radiation [WiFi] are just now being studied in depth).
Similarly, is LiFi any safer?
http://purelifi.com/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaoSp4NpkGg
Possibly, but it may have a whole host of unintended consequences. What will these high frequency pulsed light wave do to our eyes? What kind of electromagnetic interference will all of the LED lighting put on our electrical wiring if we go this route as a society?
And, why would we even need or want to use unsafe wireless when optical fiber is ultimately our future?

Fantastic job Jeromy! You have great courage and I’m very proud of you.
Will be interesting to see what happens in the future. I can’t help but think of Steve Jobs reply of “no interest” to radiation app maker Tawkon from his iPhone. Thank you so much for your exposure to the risks of EMF.
Do you know whether organites made from quartz, aluminum and resin help combat EMF? I have one small piece of organite in the bedroom. My friend makes them herself.
Jeromy
Hi Julie,
I don’t normally recommend these types of things. I feel they cause a placebo reaction, but provide little actual protection.
I always encourage people to use distance and shielding in order to reduce and eliminate their EMF exposures. Once you do this, then use any sort of pendant or orgonite that you wish for extra benefit.

Dear Jeromy,
I cannot thank you enough for this talk! You have managed to say in 16 mins what I have tried to say for the past 21 years, starting back then about the simple mobile phone followed by the GSM system and its transmission masts.
With the coming of 5G and the IoT we are really looking into the Abyss UNLESS we change the method of transmission. As you say quite rightly, `fiber optics’ are the answer. And here Li-Fi is the next step as demonstrated in another TED presentation:
http://www.ted.com/talks/harald_haas_wireless_data_from_every_light_bulb
Personally I do not use wi-fi or a mobile phone because I know the science behind it, but I fully understand that people will and in most cases cannot give up this technology. I am hopeful for the future as it looks like `Apple’ are taking the plunge and will soon introduce Li-Fi on their phones. They are finally even looking into the health effects of blue light frequencies.
But WHY did we have to wait so long when our website http://www.bemri.org has tried to raise awareness of the possibility of Visible Light Communication for the past ten years?
We need to have a total re-think NOW before more DNA damage affects the new generation and focus on the immediate introduction of Visible Light Communication, be it Li-Fi or any other form of this new technology.
Here is my translation of an important interview from 2006, when it was obvious what damage we can expect from microwave communication:

Dear Jeromy
We need to have a total re-thing NOW before more DNA damage affects the new generation and focus on the immediate introduction of Visible Light Communication, be it Li-Fi or any other form of this new technology.
Here is my translation of an important interview from 2006, when it was obvious what damage we can expect from microwave communication:

Jeromy, what a wonderful illuminating talk. I have experienced a great deal of interference in my body from EMF’s for several years. I recently found out about this 2 hour event/training with health activator Julie Renee who is known as the #1 brain Regenerator in the country. She does an excellent training online using the quantum field. She has a Tune-Up Technology Class related to cell phones and computers etc in a couple of weeks and I thought you might be interested in her knowledge in this area. http://julierenee.com/programs/technology-tune-up/. Thank you for all that you are doing….you are a way shower in the world.

The criminal practice of selling microwave devices to unsuspecting consumers; has yet to be addressed in any sober or practical way. These products are military grade weapons systems. The manufacturers of such products need lifetime terms in prison. It’s time to stop pandering to industrial ghouls who make their living off the suffering and death of others, regardless of the stated or implied benefit…
Products Liability
s 402A. SPECIAL LIABILITY OF SELLER OF PRODUCT FOR PHYSICAL HARM TO USER OR CONSUMER
(1) One who sells any product in a defective condition unreasonably dangerous to the user or consumer or to his property is subject to liability for physical harm thereby caused to the ultimate user or consumer, or to his property, if
(a) the seller is engaged in the business of selling such a product, and
(b) it is expected to and does reach the user or consumer without substantial change in the condition in which it is sold.
(2) The rule stated in Subsection (1) applies although
(a) the seller has exercised all possible care in the preparation and sale of his product, and
(b) the user or consumer has not bought the product from or entered into any contractual relation with the seller.
Caveat:
The Institute expresses no opinion as to whether the rules stated in this Section may not apply
(1) to harm to persons other than users or consumers;
(2) to the seller of a product expected to be processed or otherwise substantially changed before it reaches the user or consumer; or
(3) to the seller of a component part of a product to be assembled.
s 402B. MISREPRESENTATION BY SELLER OF CHATTELS TO CONSUMER
One engaged in the business of selling chattels who, by advertising, labels, or otherwise, makes to the public a misrepresentation of a material fact concerning the character or quality of a chattel sold by him is subject to liability for physical harm to a consumer of the chattel caused by justifiable reliance upon the misrepresentation, even though
(a) it is not made fraudulently or negligently, and
(b) the consumer has not bought the chattel from or entered into any contractual relation with the seller.
Caveat:
The Institute expresses no opinion as to whether the rule stated in this Section may apply
(1) where the representation is not made to the public, but to an individual, or
(2) where physical harm is caused to one who is not a consumer of the chattel.
Comment:
a. The rule stated in this Section is one of strict liability for physical harm to the consumer, resulting from a misrepresentation of the character or quality of the chattel sold, even though the misrepresentation is an innocent one, and not made fraudulently or negligently. Although the Section deals with misrepresentation, it is inserted here in order to complete the rules dealing with the liability of suppliers of chattels for physical harm caused by the chattel. A parallel rule, as to strict liability for pecuniary loss resulting from such a misrepresentation, is stated in s 552 D.
b. The rule stated in this Section differs from the rule of strict liability stated in s 402 A, which is a special rule applicable only to sellers of products for consumption and does not depend upon misrepresentation. The rule here stated applies to one engaged in the business of selling any type of chattel, and is limited to misrepresentations of their character or quality.

Jeromy,
Your talk has advanced the perception of this nightmare greatly as it was crafted and delivered with enormous skill. Thank you so much for this. The only thing I take issue with and I think others might consider when talking about the 20 year old FCC standards is that they were never anything but corrupt and claiming that they are out dated implies that they were once appropriate. It is a subtle point but one I think worth considering.
Many, many, many thanks !!!!

One thing conspicuous in its absence is any actual documented injury from low level RF exposure. I am an engineer, working in radio communications for almost 50 years. I design and build broadcast and communication systems, and have been exposed to more RF than 99% of the people in the country. Neither myself nor hundreds of other engineers or technicians have the first injury from RF exposure, aside from a direct contact burn. If there were actual harmful effects from microwave radiation, there would have been numerous injuries and illnesses to technicians, starting with the DEW Line in the 1950’s and continuing with the cellular techs for the last 30 years. No increased amount of cancer or other maladies from this demographic, with high exposure levels, has ever presented. In fact, nothing has ever presented in any alleged “environmental” illness sufferer that shows a direct link between low-level RF exposure and any illness which could not plausibly be psychological in nature. If there was any injury that was caused by microwave exposure, then cellular techs would have been the first to show symptoms, as they are exposed to exponentially higher levels than casual residential exposure. This is the glaring inconsistency in these “studies”, no actual measurable injury, merely apparent psychosomatic maladies. So your “talk” was devoid of any real science, only psychobabble and fear-mongering. You were only feeding into this hysteria. Please bring some real science.
Jeromy
Mike,
You bring up a point that other people in the wireless industry have similarly stated. However, there is a critical flaw in your logic. Namely, once people do experience health effects, they either retire, go on disability or move on to a different profession – often without telling their co-workers who will assume they are having a “psychological” issue, as you put it. Furthermore, as this former wireless engineer puts it, if you do speak out, you are forced out of the industry:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TiOx7_DVj0
I have had multiple people in your industry and within the IT industry who have contacted me after becoming ill from this technology. They all have similar stories. For you to say that no one has been harmed is simply false.
Now let’s move on to science. If you are willing to look at this, here is a collection of peer-reviewed research showing the health effects and symptoms of low-level RF exposures:
As for critical issues like DNA damage and cancer, the $25 million NTP study that released its preliminary results last week (because the scientists were so concerned by the data) shows that non-thermal microwave radiation (GSM and CDMA) does indeed cause cancer in rats. This does not bode well for individuals who live next to cell phone towers or heavy users of cell phones and WiFi:
http://microwavenews.com/news-center/ntp-cancer-results
The science is increasingly stacked against your industry and denial won’t help anyone. Neither will blaming the people who have been harmed or calling the messengers fear-mongers.
It’s time we find solutions to this massive problem that is getting bigger by the day and not hide behind some illusion that microwave technology is completely safe.

Jeromy,
Someone in this thread mentioned a pdf book that explains your tedtalk. I have some rural friends who are interested in this topic, but do not have internet in their homes. Is it possible to get a transcript of your talk without cutting and pasting…:) I would very much like to share with these people. One just had a cell tower planted not to far away from his home.
AND, one more question, my 7 year old grandson is diagnosed ADHD. Any connection here??? More than likely but need hard evidence to present my daughter and her husband.
BTW, I am your former music teacher from Black Hawk Elementary.
Looking forward to hearing from you on these topics.

1. Just read the comprehensive article with the same title as this TEDX in the Summer 2016 issue of the Bent of Tau Beta Pi. Today’s paper had an article about a town which is deciding whether to install 3 or 4 cell phone towers IN THE TOWN, and I wanted to inform the reporter about this article, but the TBP website, which makes pdf files available, has not yet added this issue to their list. I will have to see if they can provide it anyway.
2. While reading these replies, it occurred to me that somebody could make millions of $$ by designing and selling a simple plastic block which could slip over a cell phone (or cordless phone) and keep it one inch from the ear??? I, BSEE’49, am 88, so it won’t be me.
3. My best friend’s wife was a teaching nurse at Roswell Park Cancer Hospital, and years ago, was wiped out when a colon cancer metastasized across the brain-blood barrier to form a brain tumor. The doctors hadn’t even looked for a brain tumor because they didn’t believe such a metastasis was possible. I think you just spelled out what made this possible, but I don’t know how to inform them of this info.

I am sharing this clip daily with people who exhibit similar symptoms to what we experience on a daily basis. Unfortunately most do not reply, but a few take it seriously and thank me for giving them this information. That’s what keeps me going. Meanwhile I’m getting bombarded more and more by my environment. The Netherlands are first in line for the new hype but last to wake up to the consequences.
Thank you for the hard work so far!

Just viewed your video — very interesting. I have always wondered about the effect on our bodies from all of the radiation that we are exposed to 24 hrs a day.
I’ll relate an event that occurred to me in March 1948 while I was in the service; I was a radar repair technician checking out (routine) a ground radar radiating horn (that’s where the radiation comes out before it hits the antenna). While I was checking the braces that hold the horn, someone turned on the transmitter with the back of my head directly in contact the the horn output. The output power was 750,000 watts at 1300 MHz, at 400pps, pulse width of microseconds. I felt the back of my head getting warm, so I moved away in about ten seconds but was still exposed to radiation from the antenna for about 30 more seconds while climbing down.
So far I have not noticed any effects (I am 90 yrs old).
Myron C
Jeromy
Myron,
I appreciate your comment and thanks for sharing your story. You are likely the first nonagenarian to watch this talk!
You bring up the million dollar question. Why are some people affected by exposures and others not?
What I have found is that long-term exposure over 10, 20, 30 years can be much worse than one short, acute exposure.
I have spoken to linemen from utility companies who say that many of their colleagues experience neurological issues at an unusually early age (40’s and 50’s). I have also received more than a few emails from men who work for cell phone companies – installing the antennas. They also report an unusually high incidence of cancer among their colleagues at early ages.
Then, you have what happens to neighborhoods that have powerful cell antennas installed next to homes – where cancer clusters are appearing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eKDbINRCyQ
Finally, there is the issue that the science is clear now that RF can cause cancer and DNA damage:
https://ntp.niehs.nih.gov/results/areas/cellphones/index.html
When we combine what our best science shows with the numbers of people being affected, I think the only honest answer is that we have a problem on our hands.
The question now is what our society will do about it?
Jerry Clifford Kays
About 9 years ago (I am 77 now) subsequent to a vehicle accident I spent about 3 months in the hospital of which 14 days was in ICU. After a few weeks in the first hospital I was transferred to another a couple states away. As I recall, it was at the second place where I immediately began to experience a raw resonance grating on my nerves, seemingly in my head, very uncomfortable and it bothered me to no end.
Every time I mentioned it to the staff I was brushed off as if I were only imagining it. I am sure in my mind that it was related to all of the electronic systems in use in such a large (and older) hospital.
While there I swore that I would investigate and write a book about it. Of course I never did and I have always wondered about it. This being the first time I have written a word of it.
My question: have you, or any readers here, ever heard anything that might shed a light on my experience?
Jeromy
Jerry,
Thanks for writing, and for sharing your story.
I know of quite a few people who have become electrically sensitive after a traumatic injury (like a car crash). The nervous system is damaged (at least for a while) and it becomes much easier for the person to perceive EMF exposures. It becomes quite debilitating for some, and others eventually heal and the sensitivity is not as bothersome (it’s just something that is there at times).
Electrical sensitivity is primarily a nervous system issue, so this makes complete sense to me.
As for the hospital – they are often one of the highest EMF places one can be. You were in this hospital nine years ago, so it was likely a low-frequency magnetic/electric field and/or “dirty electricity” issue. There may have been microwave exposures, but that was less prevalent back then. In the past five to ten years, many hospitals have moved toward “smart” applications, where almost every scalpel, tray, light, computer and patient has an RFID chip so the main computer system knows exactly where everything is.
The RF levels in a modern hospital are now completely unhealthy (ironic). However, because of the immense investment in technology, the strong belief in technology and the lack of education that the medical profession has regarding the biological implications of electromagnetic fields, this truth will not be acknowledged anytime soon. This is why your experience was discounted as being “all in your head.”
I’m sure you have heard of Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis and the “Semmelweis Effect”?
http://semmelweis.org/about/dr-semmelweis-biography/
It does seem we are at a similar inflection point in our understanding of biology and the implications our man-made world can have upon us. This will eventually shake up some deeply held beliefs.
If you could go back to that hospital where you experienced the unusual symptoms and measure the fields, that could be evidence for your book/article. Read this article to see how to do this:
https://www.emfanalysis.com/how-to-create-a-healthy-home/
All my best,
Jeromy
Jerry Clifford Kays
Hi Jeromy,
Many thanks for your reply. I had not heard of Dr. Semmelweis and his rather sad ending at the hands of ‘the system’ of his day. I am aware though of Pasteur’s fame.
My work career began with work in high voltage (500kv) transmission/distribution electrical substations so I have always been somewhat familiar with the subject of potential radiation effects on the human body. So just maybe that was why I had the suspicions I had while ill in that hospital.
One thing that I am absolutely convinced of though is that it was not something “only” in my mind, it was very real and rather debilitating over all.
Thanks again for your service in attempting to help those that are so susceptible to radiations, a problem that will probably increase over time before the industry is forced to mitigate the source(s).
Best, Jerry.

I have a tower near approx 1/8 to 1/4 mile away. I have an Acoustimeter from lessemf. The readings are .10 -.20 V/m and uW/m2 is low 2 average. My daughter has symptoms and has since she was little around routers/cordless phones, etc. As this reading is low, but the cell phone gets 5 bars all over the house, which is a more accurate way to read this level? And can it have anything to do with her symptoms now? Behavioral and digestive., major sensitive to foods. We are looking to rent asap and leave the house, so I would appreciate any advice.
Jeromy
Hi Jillian,
Thanks for your question.
Those RF levels are not overly high. However, I know people who do not do well with readings at that level. Ideal is around 0.01 – 0.02 V/m for sensitive people (below 1 uW/m^2). It sounds like your daughter may need these lower readings.
Also note that RF is only one of four types of EMFs that can be causing symptoms. Read this article to learn more:
https://www.emfanalysis.com/how-to-create-a-healthy-home/
You could have high magnetic or electric fields in your home that are causing the problems.
For a new home, I would highly recommend my book, which I wrote specifically for situations such as yours:

Keep in touch,

Thanks Jeromy, I have one of the meters that reads the electric running through the body too. it’s high on the computer and near some wall switches, lamps, etc. Again it’s lower in the basement and we are much more grounded, but there is high radon in winter, or perhaps the hot air ducts. she started coughing during sleep, so we moved back upstairs. She was very sensitive as a child to living in an condo shared walls. she turned bright red while nursing sometimes, she was burning alot both ends, and getting bladder infection eventually, which i have read about common. ear also. We eat all organic and drink water only.

I found this talk extremely disappointing it was full of dishonesty deceitfulness, technobable and pseudo science. Never in the history of human knowledge have I come across so many well educated people who are so stupid.

I’d be interested on your thoughts about 5G.

Anyone know of areas to live that are low EMF, low radiation, low overhead satellites? Considering the Yucatan in Mexico.
Part time maybe McAllen, TX (lower to soil is better from what I understand) Higher meaning your closer to cell towers on mountains.
