This is certainly a positive development. . . The future of hotels is here, and there is much less WiFi.
A front page article in the Financial Times this week reported that Villa Stephanie, a German luxury hotel, has introduced a WiFi kill switch that can block all microwave radiation from entering a guest’s room.
The hotel has put a copper grid in the walls that, when activated, completely blocks all wireless signals. This is in addition to the microwave blocking paint that Villa Stephanie has used to reduce 96% of this type of EMF pollution.
Although the WiFi kill switch is being marketed as a way to help guests disconnect from their devices, many savvy travelers are waking up to the fact that you don’t want to be microwaved all night while you sleep. Indeed, since becoming electro-hypersensitive four years ago, I have only stayed once in a hotel with WiFi and it was a sleepless night.
I see this idea becoming much more common in the coming years. So does the CEO of Villa Stephanie. In the article he predicts that this practice will be common in luxury homes within five years. Hopefully the costs of this technology will decrease in time so that more people can benefit from it.
Who knows, as awareness grows, we may even decide as a society to limit EMF pollution in the first place.
A Future Without WiFi Is Certainly Possible.

A copper grid that completely blocks ALL signals … hmmm. VERY skeptical … do research this!

RE: eileen
No need to Research. Get some Copper Grids…. Cover your phone with them, and if the Signal Bar goes down, it’s blocking it :). I think this is a Simple Research don’t you think?
You can actually cover your Room with TIN FOIL. Although Copper, Silver, even Gold Screen / Grid would do a Great Job, but expensive. Grounding any Metal Sheets would work too, just costly :(((
eileen ? Do you live under a Rock? People have Painting their Room(s) with Blocking Paint, covering their Walls and Windows with EMF Fabrics and Faraday Cage for their Bed for YEARS now.

Jod,
Any idea on how many layers of aluminium foil is required to block / deflect EMF?
Also, does anyone know where to buy EMF shielding paint in Canada? I’ve looked in the local hardware stores and no-one knows what I’m even asking for…
Thanks,
Mark
Jeromy
Mark,
Just one layer of heavy duty Reynolds Wrap will provide good protection for RF. This is usually your cheapest way to go.
For shielding paint in Canada – here is the company:

Interesting post and comments. Do you think that Mylar sheets would block signals? I am thinking space blankets because of their size and “silvered” both sides may be easier to install than foil.
Jod
Hi Mark,
Yes, just 1 Layer of Heavy Duty Tin Foil would work. The only thing is that you would have to Cover Wall to Wall and Ceiling and Floor as well. This would apply to the same with Paint. but expensive. If you are planning to do this. You have to dedicate a Room for only Sleeping and nothing is in it except for a Bed. Also, your Mattress can’t have Metal Coil under it.
I have done it all, and my best was a Faraday Cage with Liner underneath. Although they are expensive… But it’s the most effective item out there for Blocking EMF.
Paint was OK, but still leaking EMF through cracks and Windows. Tin Foil you can only do so much and Grounding Tin Foil afterward put out these Weird Metal Smells that will keep you up at night if you are sensitive enough to smell it.
Remember, you are dealing with Radiations, and the only way is to have an AIR TIGHT room, how you are going to breathe? Paint and Tin Foil and I even try the Mylar Blankets are all down falls because you can’t Ground them, yes I have tried it.
My best up to date is Faraday Cage :). I spend 2 Thousand Dollars for a Custom Made King Size Faraday Cage since I’m Close-phobic. I had to get the King Size one and the height is 8 Feet Tall around. I also Ground it as well. Grounding it made a huge difference. Since then, I sleep soundly and wake up everyday like I slept in years…. Worth every single Dollar, LOL.
With all the Money I spent, I would have just paid for the Faraday Cage and call it the day. I hope that this will help other People as well :))

Hi Jod,
I am wondering how you were able to ground your canopy?
I have 2 canopies I sleep under along with the mat underneath and would like to ground them. I tried connecting them to a 5 foot copper rod with a ground into the earth. That did not do the job.
Thank you,
Beth

I used to Travel to Carmel & Monterrey, Calif. to see clients I had when I lived there. But unfortunately ALL Hotels have put in WiFi —-Even the Cheap ones. Didn’t realized until after I booked at a Hotel I had stayed at for years. It was Unbelievable – the Hyper feeling – buzzing in my Head. Can’t travel there anymore – now my clients come to see me. Now if I could just find a dentist office that isn’t loaded with all the New Technology – I’d be Thrilled. I became sensitive when they installed New High Power poles behind my previous house. Today I went to our local mall (which I hadn’t been for yrs.) to buy a gift for my Daughter-in-law. Oh My!! Wi-Fi everywhere – had to get out quickly.

Here is a decent listing of hotels with no WiFi. Hopefully the numbers will increase in the coming years:

I think its a good idea in principle but I’m not convinced that hotels will be willing to pay for copper wiring their rooms, putting them out of service while the work is done. I think the paint option is more feasible.
With the advance in technology it may be possible in the future to just have localized WiFi fields for each room, giving you more control over EMF pollution.
Jeromy
Joshua,
I agree with you. Perhaps localized LiFi that you could turn on in a room if you wanted it, rather than WiFi routers that pollute all neighboring rooms.
Of course, an ethernet connection is also essential for guests.
I have heard that some high-end upper floor suites in Las Vegas do already offer EMF shielded rooms. It is definitely a luxury item at this point though.
With what some private companies are proposing for public WiFi antennas, RF reducing paint will be beneficial going forward:

A lot of the article went over my head as I’m not that ‘tech savvy’, but it looks like promising stuff, as long it doesn’t mean being bombarded with yet more signals.

Hi,
If you are traveling and on the Road. This guy make hats and I’m thinking of ordering one. See Ebay Item: 331805974326
http://www.ebay.com/itm/EMF-RF-Radiation-Protection-Shield-Hat-RFID-Blocking-Shielding-Cap-/331805974326?rd=1
Please read his Listing, because there is an EXTREME Protection Hat Version as well.

I hope that this will help the People who Travel a lot since most Hotels are NOT EMF safe yet.

These look effective, if a bit pricey. You might also look at LessEMF.com for meters and shielding materials, including a baseball type of cap.
We made our bedroom as shielded as possible, including putting aluminum screening on the ceiling and then grounding it. And we shielded the windows and grounded that shielding, too. And I sleep with a shielding net over my head. And, since WiFi disrupts melatonin production in the brain, I take melatonin at bedtime.
Jeromy, thank you so very much for sharing knowledge, and for allowing the sharing of information. You’re doing vital work.

Please what can one do to reduce “dirty electricity”?
Is this a viable option: “The High-Frequency EM Pollution Reducer (HF EMPOR) designed by Dr. Martin Graham, Professor Emeritus at the Electronics Research Laboratory of the University of California, Berkeley, consists of 20 EMF high frequency suppressors which are simply plugged into ordinary electric outlets, distributed throughout the home or office. These suppressors will measurably reduce the high frequency EMF pollution in your environment. A number of people have reported immediate relief from electrical sensitivity symptoms with the use of the HF EMPOR.”
Jeromy
Hi Jeanna,
I don’t usually recommend such devices as many people react to them and they don’t necessarily do what they are saying. I like to find the root cause of the EMI/DE and eliminate it. I do this using an AM radio at the circuit breaker panel to find the source. Please email me to discuss this process.
