What a journey this has been. After spending much of the past year outside the country trying to heal my body, I have returned to the Bay Area to work. However, my first month back in Silicon Valley was filled with sleepless nights and terrible headaches. The Los Gatos neighborhood I was staying in has become a place I can no longer live because of its high levels of EMF pollution.
This was not always the case. Just a few years ago, before wireless “smart” meters were installed, I was healthy as could be in this very same place. I slept sound and had never experienced a headache in my life. The difference between then and now is like night and day for my health.
As you can see in the photo above, I have found a temporary solution. Just a few miles away in the Santa Cruz Mountains above Silicon Valley, I have found a protected valley where I can pitch my tent every night. I have been doing this for the past month, through rain, cold temperatures and tremendous inconvenience.
Every night, I walk a few hundred meters with all my camping gear and set up my tent in the dark. Every morning, I wake, take down my tent, walk back to my car and head back to my office. On the nights when it is raining hard, I sleep in my car until it stops, then go set up my tent. If it starts to rain early in the morning, I wake and pack up my gear so that my tent is not soaking wet for the following night.
It hasn’t been easy and most people still do not understand why I would do this. Yet, finding a safe place to sleep has been vital for my health. I can sleep again (even though I miss the comfort of a bed) and my headaches go away for those hours when I am up in that valley. This makes my days easier.
Nearly three years after the installation of wireless “smart” meters made it so that my body reacts to microwave radiation and electrical pollution, it has become incredibly difficult to find a safe place to call home. This is true for so many others as well. It has been such a frustrating and, at times, overwhelming situation to be in. Yet, I am hopeful that society will wake up to the dangers of filling our communities with EMF pollution. Until that time, I have a feeling I will be spending many more nights in my tent.

I am very moved by your story., and your spirit to carry on. Don’t give up! I found myself in circumstances where people (who didn’t understand/care about ES) were using wifi in the house where I lived. So in my mid-60’s I had to go out and sleep in my car. We do whatever we need to to survive. Thank you for your wonderful, informative website. It is so needed and appreciated.
Hard to believe that you are struggling and having to go to this length just to be able to function.. What have we done to our little planet to make it so inhospitable for us to just live here?? I am so sorry Jeromy that you are dealing at this level. You are one of the first to be hit so hard…. but we are all in for it sooner or later – maybe in different ways….. but it’s just a matter of time….

Hi Jeromy. My name is Lise. I live in Amherst MA. I will soon be living as you do :(. I’ve been getting sicker and sicker since moving to this apt 7 yrs ago. Up until that time I was fit and active. Now I am weak and exhausted, stiff and in pain. I thought it was Lyme but now I suspect it is the wifi here, as well as some dirty electricity problem. I’m trying to figure out where I can go to pitch my tent and just use my apt as a place to cook and store things. It sucks because I live in a subsidized apt and can’t afford to live anywhere else. It helps to know I’m not alone.

The bed canopies do provide some relief, but they are expensive. I have used one for a few years. In urban environments or any place that has powerful wireless transmitters nearby, they can really help.

What is the difference between new daylite and daylite? My bed is 48″. Which size do you recommend?

The New Daylite and Daylite are the same material and have the same shielding capability (they block about 95% of the RF). At 48″, you should go with the full size. Be sure to get the sheet that goes underneath your mattress.

Bill and Athena Steen, authors of the first book on Straw Bale building and builders of amazing clay and straw block buildings were hired by the military to make a bunch of earthen houses so their equipment could be tested. Turns out our military can see/hear through concrete and wood houses just fine, but for some reason, clay completely grounds out the various bands – and cell phones don’t get signal. Maybe an earthen vault is what you need. (includes roof of clay) I helped some friends build a small vault currently used as a chicken coop here in Contra Costa County. Naptime?
