The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the city will be spending over $200 million on fiber optics. They call the technology “future proof” because it is the only technology that will provide the bandwidth we need in the future. Why then do we need antennas placed right outside people’s homes?
Here are pictures of antennas from just a few blocks in the Russian Hill neighborhood of San Francisco. Thousands of these antennas are being installed throughout San Francisco. Most cities will likely go this route in the coming years.
